With profound sadness, we remember 72-year-old Gary Neil Hobert of Harrold, South Dakota, whose life was tragically cut short Saturday afternoon in a devastating two-vehicle crash near Cresbard.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the collision occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at the intersection of South Dakota Highway 45 and 155th Street, approximately five miles west of Cresbard. Gary was traveling as a passenger in a 2021 Ford Edge Titanium driven by 70-year-old Debra Hobert of Harrold.
At the same time, a 16-year-old driver from Faulkton was traveling westbound in a 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup as he approached the intersection. The vehicles collided after the pickup entered the intersection.
Gary sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Debra was transported to a Faulkton hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the teenage pickup driver suffered minor injuries. The South Dakota Highway Patrol said the investigation remains ongoing, and the information released remains preliminary.
