AUSTIN, TX — Austin Independent School District (AISD) Police and local law enforcement responded to a safety incident at McCallum High School after the campus was placed under security protocols following a reported threat.

The Threat: School administrators received a phone call from an unidentified individual claiming there was an active threat to the campus involving firearms and potential explosive devices.

Safety Protocol: AISD Police immediately initiated security protocols, clearing the hallways and keeping students and staff secured inside classrooms while law enforcement assessed the situation.

Police Sweep: Officers and K-9 units conducted a full sweep of the campus buildings, perimeter, and surrounding areas off W. Koenig Lane and Sunshine Drive to ensure the facility was safe.
Campus Status & Dismissal
Following a comprehensive search of the premises, AISD Police Chief Wayne Sneed confirmed that no explosive devices or active threats were found on school grounds. The security hold was lifted, and normal campus operations resumed to allow for a controlled student dismissal. District counselors and support staff were made available for students and faculty.
