The Indianapolis community is mourning the loss of Ismael Velasco Juarez, 24, who died in a devastating crash along northbound Interstate 65 in Clinton County, Indiana, on the morning of October 1, 2026.

The fatal collision occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. near the 157-mile marker of I-65. Ismael was traveling as a passenger in a 2012 Chevrolet Express van when the trailer being towed by the vehicle became detached.

Ismael was ejected from the van during the rollover and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators said he was believed not to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the van, 27-year-old Alfredo Hernandez Manuel of Indianapolis, was not injured in the collision.
