With profound sadness, family and loved ones are mourning the loss of Isaias Gabriel Tirado Ramirez, 20, of Chicago, whose life came to a heartbreaking and unexpected end after he went missing following a work assignment near Ransom, Illinois.
What began as an ordinary weekend quickly turned into a desperate search when Isaias failed to return home after he was last seen Saturday evening at a property near Ransom, where he had been working as part of a construction crew.
His family reported him missing after he did not return to Chicago, holding onto hope that he would be found safe. Sadly, that hope gave way to devastating news.
According to the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were notified Sunday night that Isaias was missing. On Monday afternoon, investigators searching the property discovered a man inside a cistern or well behind the property.
An underwater camera was used to help locate the man, while the Mendota Fire Department and MABAS Technical Rescue Team assisted with the difficult recovery.
An autopsy later confirmed that the man was Isaias.
At only 20 years old, Isaias had so much life still ahead of him—dreams yet to be fulfilled, memories yet to be made and countless tomorrows that will now never come.
His sudden passing leaves behind grief, unanswered questions and a painful absence for the people who knew and loved him. For his family, the hope of bringing him home safely ultimately ended in heartbreak.
