Keiler Cruz-Guerra Obituary-Stabbing: 5-Year-Old Arlington Child Dies After Stabbing

The Arlington, Texas, community is mourning the tragic death of 5-year-old Keiler Cruz-Guerra, who died after suffering injuries in a reported stabbing at an apartment late Wednesday night, September 30, 2026. A 2-year-old child was also seriously injured in the incident and remains hospitalized.

According to Arlington police, the incident came to light at approximately 11:50 p.m., when 27-year-old Heyco Cruz Linares approached an officer at a gas station while carrying a knife. Police said Linares then fled in a vehicle, prompting officers to pursue him.

The pursuit ended near Interstate 30 in Grand Prairie, where Linares was taken into custody. Authorities said that during the arrest, Linares told officers that he had killed his children at their Arlington apartment.

Officers subsequently responded to an apartment in the 1600 block of South Cooper Street. Police said they found Keiler and the younger child suffering from injuries consistent with a knife attack.

Both children were transported to a hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, Keiler later died from his injuries. The 2-year-old child was reported to be in stable condition while receiving medical care.

Keiler was only 5 years old, making the circumstances of his death especially devastating for his family and the wider Arlington community.
