San Antonio Power Outage Today: CPS Energy Crews Respond as Severe Weather Disrupts Electricity

Residents across parts of San Antonio, Texas, are dealing with power outages as severe weather moves through the region, disrupting electricity service and creating additional challenges for residents, businesses, and motorists.

Current reports indicate that more than 2,700 CPS Energy customers were without electricity across San Antonio on Thursday, October 1, with dozens of active outages reported. The Collins Gardens and South Central areas were among those experiencing significant impacts.

The outages come as a powerful storm system brings heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across South-Central Texas. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for San Antonio and surrounding parts of Bexar County, warning that additional rainfall could contribute to flooding and scattered power outages.

CPS Energy has crews responding to reported outages and working to restore electricity as safely as possible. The utility’s official outage center provides customers with current outage information, restoration updates, and safety guidance.

The weather has also created hazardous driving conditions in portions of the San Antonio area. Heavy rainfall and flooding can affect roads, intersections, and low-lying areas, while emergency and utility crews may be working near damaged infrastructure.

Residents are being urged to use caution while traveling, particularly around flooded roads, downed power lines, and areas where crews are conducting repairs. Drivers should never approach or drive over a downed power line and should treat damaged electrical wires as energized.

The City of San Antonio and local emergency agencies have also been monitoring the effects of the storm, with officials urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel when dangerous weather and flooding affect road conditions.

CPS Energy’s customer service centers were closed Thursday, October 1, because of the severe weather, although emergency assistance and online outage services remained available. Customers experiencing an electrical or gas emergency can contact CPS Energy at 210-353-4357.

As crews continue assessing outages, restoration times may vary depending on the location and extent of damage. Residents can monitor the official CPS Energy outage map for updates on individual outages and estimated restoration information.

The situation remains weather-dependent, with additional storms possible. Residents are encouraged to remain alert to official weather and emergency notifications as conditions develop.
