Friday night in the quiet town of Ridgeway, Wisconsin, became a night of unimaginable sorrow when 48-year-old Collin E. Giddings of Ridgeway lost his life in a devastating crash on U.S. Highway 18/151.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:41 p.m. Friday near Mile Marker 55, leaving a community to mourn a life that was suddenly and tragically taken away. Local reporting confirmed that emergency crews responded to the crash on U.S. 18/151, where eastbound lanes were closed as the scene was investigated.
According to the information surrounding the crash, Collin was traveling eastbound in a silver 2001 Honda Accord when his vehicle left the roadway and entered a ditch. As the Honda returned toward the highway, it was struck from behind by a Chevrolet Silverado and then struck by a Toyota Prius V.
The force of the collisions tragically ejected Collin from his vehicle. Despite efforts at the scene, he could not be saved and was pronounced deceased.
In a matter of moments, an ordinary Friday evening became a heartbreaking farewell.
There are losses that words can never fully explain. Collin’s passing is one of those painful moments that leaves behind questions, silence and memories that will forever carry a different meaning. A life that was still unfolding was suddenly brought to an end, leaving behind people who must now learn to live with an absence they never expected.
The highway eventually grew quiet again. Emergency lights disappeared into the darkness, the roadway reopened and another morning arrived. Yet for those affected by this tragedy, nothing could simply return to normal.
The memories remain.
Collin’s story should not be remembered only for the tragic circumstances surrounding his final moments. Behind the crash report was a human being whose life had meaning, whose presence mattered and whose absence will now be deeply felt.
For those who knew Collin, the days ahead may bring difficult reminders — familiar places, photographs, conversations and ordinary moments that suddenly feel different. Grief has no simple timeline, and the memories of someone lost too soon can remain long after the immediate shock has passed.
As the circumstances surrounding the crash continue to be examined, may those mourning Collin’s death find strength in the memories that cannot be taken away.
Some lives leave footprints that time cannot erase. Some names remain written forever in the hearts of those who remember.
Collin E. Giddings will be remembered.
