With deep sadness, family, friends, and the Roswell community are mourning the loss of Khasan S. Umarov, 63, and Khalisa Umarovna Umarova, 61, who died following a devastating crash on Interstate 85 in Franklin County, Georgia.
The crash happened at approximately 12:47 p.m. Saturday near mile marker 167, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Troopers said a white 2020 Toyota Camry was traveling north in the right lane when it hydroplaned, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree head-on.
Khasan, who was driving, and Khalisa, his passenger, were both transported to St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital following the collision. Despite efforts to save them, both later died from their injuries.
The Georgia State Patrol said driver impairment was not suspected in the crash. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain part of the investigation.
