With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we remember Gavin B. McLaughlin, 18, of Vermilion, Ohio, whose life was tragically cut short Saturday night, October 3, 2026, following a motorcycle crash in Sandusky County.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 9:51 p.m. on State Route 19 near County Road 127 in Rice Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation, Gavin was riding a blue and white 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King southbound on State Route 19 when he failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned.

Gavin suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased. Authorities reported that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Sandusky County Coroner’s Office, Sandusky County EMS, Lindsey Fire Department, and Triple J’s Towing.

But beyond the roadway, the motorcycle and the circumstances of the crash was a young life that mattered.

At only 18 years old, Gavin had so much life still ahead of him — dreams yet to be fulfilled, experiences still waiting to unfold, and countless memories that should have been made with family and friends.

His sudden passing leaves behind a deep sense of heartbreak for everyone who knew and loved him. The pain of losing someone so young can be difficult to put into words, and the absence left behind will be felt in the days, months and years ahead.

Gavin’s life was far more than the circumstances of his final moments. He was a son, a friend, a loved one and a person whose presence touched the lives of others. Though his time was tragically short, the memories he leaves behind will remain with those who knew him.

May Gavin B. McLaughlin be remembered with dignity, love and compassion. May his family, friends and loved ones find strength in the memories they shared and comfort in knowing how deeply he was loved.

Rest peacefully, Gavin B. McLaughlin. Your life was far too short, but your memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
