Morgan MacGavin Obituary – Car Accident: Morgan MacGavin, 44, Remembered After Fatal I-40 Crash in Nashville

With heavy hearts, Morgan MacGavin, 44, of Nashville, Tennessee, is being remembered following a fatal single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Bellevue on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The crash was reported shortly after 11 a.m. on I-40 West near the Highway 70 exit and mile marker 194.4. According to Metro Nashville police, MacGavin was driving a red Mazda SUV when the vehicle struck the interstate median wall, crossed the westbound lanes and then left the roadway, eventually coming to rest in the nearby tree line.

MacGavin died at the scene. Authorities said there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the crash scene. The Metro Nashville Police Department’s Fatal Crash Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The crash also caused a major disruption for motorists traveling through the area, with the westbound lanes of I-40 closed for approximately three hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. The roadway reopened shortly before 2:15 p.m.

But beyond the traffic closures and investigative details was a woman whose life meant far more than the circumstances of her final moments.

Morgan was a daughter, friend, loved one and part of a Nashville community that will now feel her absence. At 44, she still had experiences to share, memories to make and moments that should have stretched far into the future.

Her sudden passing leaves behind a profound sense of loss for those who knew and loved her. While investigators work to understand the circumstances of the crash, those closest to Morgan are left to remember the person she was and the moments they shared with her.

May Morgan MacGavin be remembered not simply for the tragedy that took her life, but for the life she lived and the memories she leaves behind.

May she rest peacefully, and may her family, friends and loved ones find comfort and strength during this heartbreaking time.
