CATAWISSA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — With profound sadness, we remember Shane M. Wells, 41, of York, Pennsylvania, whose life was tragically cut short Sunday in a devastating motorcycle crash at the intersection of Numidia Drive and Kulp Road in Catawissa Township.

Shane was riding a blue 2022 Suzuki GSX 1000 northbound on Numidia Drive with four other motorcyclists when tragedy unfolded.
According to the account provided, a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 63-year-old Carol L. Snyder of Paxinos, had stopped at the intersection before attempting to cross Numidia Drive. The first motorcyclist was able to avoid the SUV. Shane, traveling second in the group, collided with the driver’s-side door, while the remaining three riders managed to avoid the crash.
Shane was pronounced dead at the scene by a Columbia County deputy coroner.
In a single heartbreaking moment, a journey that had begun with the freedom of the open road came to an unimaginable end. A life that still held so many roads to travel, memories to create and tomorrows to embrace was suddenly taken away.
There is something especially painful about a life ending without warning. One moment can be filled with movement, laughter and plans for the future; the next can leave behind silence, questions and an emptiness that is difficult to put into words.
As investigators continue working to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash, Shane’s family, friends, fellow riders and all those who knew him are left to face the weight of an immeasurable loss.
Yet Shane’s story is more than the tragedy of one final journey.
He was a son, a friend, a fellow rider and a person whose life touched others in ways that cannot be measured by the circumstances of his passing. The memories shared with him now become part of the legacy he leaves behind.
For those who loved and knew Shane, the road ahead will undoubtedly feel different without him. But memories have a way of keeping a person’s presence close — in stories retold, photographs remembered, familiar places visited and the quiet moments when someone who is gone is still deeply felt.
May Shane M. Wells be remembered not simply for how his life ended, but for the life he lived, the connections he made and the memories he gave to those around him.
May his memory remain brighter than the circumstances of his final journey, and may his family, friends and fellow riders find strength and comfort in the memories they will carry with them forever.
