With profound sadness, Kaycee Kuhn, 43, is remembered after a devastating two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Lancaster County, Nebraska, The fatal collision occurred shortly before noon on October 4 at the intersection of South 82nd Street and Roca Road, south of Lincoln.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Kuhn was driving a Kia Soul eastbound on Roca Road when a Nissan Rogue traveling southbound on South 82nd Street failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with her vehicle.
Investigators with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team believe the Nissan was traveling at approximately 70 mph in a 55 mph zone at the time of the crash. Kuhn was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nissan was being driven by a 16-year-old boy, who was able to get out of the vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames approximately five minutes later. He was transported to Bryan West Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Authorities said they do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved, and no charges had been issued at the time of the latest reports.
An autopsy for Kuhn was scheduled for October 5, while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing.
