Leobardo Adan Garza, 53, and Margarito Vasquez Cano, 36, Remembered After Fatal Hidalgo County Crash

With profound sadness, we remember Leobardo Adan Garza, 53, of Mission, Texas, and Margarito Vasquez Cano, 36, also of Mission, whose lives were tragically cut short Sunday afternoon following a devastating two-vehicle crash in Hidalgo County, The collision occurred at approximately 5:09 p.m. at the intersection of FM 1924 and Minnesota Road, north of Palmview.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2006 Toyota Tundra traveling northbound on Minnesota Road entered the intersection after running a red light and collided with a 2018 Ford F-150 traveling eastbound on FM 1924.

DPS identified Garza as the driver of the Toyota and Cano as the driver of the Ford. Both men suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

For Margarito’s loved ones, the circumstances of the crash are especially important to remember accurately. According to the preliminary DPS account, it was the Toyota traveling northbound that entered the intersection against the traffic signal. Margarito was driving the Ford F-150 traveling along FM 1924 when the two vehicles collided.

In a matter of seconds, an ordinary Sunday afternoon became a moment of unimaginable sorrow. Two lives were lost, leaving behind families, friends and loved ones who must now face an absence that words cannot fully describe.

Leobardo, 53, and Margarito, 36, lived different lives and had their own individual journeys, relationships, responsibilities and dreams. Yet they now share a heartbreaking final chapter connected to a collision on a Hidalgo County roadway.
