The crash occurred at approximately 7:47 a.m. at the intersection of County Roads 99 and 212 in Allen Township, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. A preliminary investigation found that a 2007 blue Dodge, driven by Lawrence Swartz, was traveling westbound on County Road 212 when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Shari was a passenger in the vehicle.
Both occupants became trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Allen Township Fire Department. Despite emergency efforts, Shari was pronounced dead at the scene. Lawrence was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
