MINERAL CITY, OH — The Uhrichsville community is in mourning following a heartbreaking accident that claimed the lives of two local women, 58-year-old Dawn D. Martin and 34-year-old Latasha Martin, in Tuscarawas County over the weekend. The tragedy occurred at the Atwood Dairy Bar parking lot along State Route 212 NE near Mineral City. Dawn and Latasha had just finished serving as vendors at the nearby Atwood Area Fall Festival when they stopped in the parking lot.

According to Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell, one pickup truck had pulled into the lot after encountering a mechanical issue, while a second truck, driven by a family member, parked behind and slightly to the side. Investigators believe the second truck was inadvertently left out of park and slowly rolled forward, pinning both women against the first vehicle.
Sheriff Campbell reported that the women remained trapped for approximately two hours before being discovered by passersby. Both vehicles were still running when deputies arrived on the scene.
First responders immediately initiated emergency lifesaving measures, and both women were rushed to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, where they tragically succumbed to their injuries.
The sudden loss of Dawn and Latasha has sent waves of grief through Uhrichsville and the broader Tuscarawas County community. Remembered as active vendors and vibrant members of the local festival community, their unexpected passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of family, friends, and neighbors.
As loved ones face the painful days ahead, the entire community extends its deepest condolences and support. May Dawn D. Martin and Latasha Martin rest in peace, and may their family find strength and comfort in shared memories during this time of profound sorrow.
