Keith Smith Shooting News: Investigation Ongoing Following Domestic Dispute and Fatal Incident in Greenville

With heavy hearts, we remember Keith Smith, 37, whose life came to a tragic end Monday evening in Greenville following a domestic dispute that led to a fatal shooting. According to the Greenville Police Department, officers responded around 6:40 p.m. to a home in the 300 block of Paige Drive after reports of a disturbance. Investigators said Smith had been involved in a domestic dispute with a woman before leaving the area.

Police said the confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, during which Smith allegedly attempted to strike the woman with his vehicle. Authorities reported that the woman fired at the vehicle, after which Smith gained control of the firearm and chased her before leaving the scene.

Later, officers located Smith inside a vehicle near West Roundtree Drive and West Fifth Street. As officers approached, they heard a gunshot coming from inside the vehicle. Police found Smith suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing as authorities continue working to understand the events that led to Smith’s death.
