With heavy hearts, we remember Alondra N. Pacheco Pagan, 20, of Cleveland, whose life was tragically cut short Tuesday evening in a devastating two-vehicle crash in Eaton Township, Lorain County, Ohio.
The collision occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on State Route 10 near State Route 57, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Alondra was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla eastbound when the vehicle crossed the grass median, began to spin, and entered the westbound lanes. The Toyota was then struck on the passenger side by a 2021 Kia Seltos traveling westbound.
Alondra suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Kia, a 56-year-old Oberlin man, was transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately 90 minutes as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
But beyond the details of the collision is the loss of a young woman whose life held so much possibility.
At only 20 years old, Alondra had so much still ahead of her — dreams waiting to unfold, places yet to see, memories still to create, and countless ordinary moments that could have become treasured memories. In a matter of seconds, that future was heartbreakingly taken away.
