With heavy hearts, the Paris, Illinois, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 19-year-old Kathryn A. Jones, whose life came to a tragic end on Monday, October 5, 2026. According to Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett, emergency dispatchers received a call at approximately 8:51 a.m. after a person reported that he had been searching for his daughter and discovered her unresponsive at Blackhawk Park, located northwest of Paris.
The Paris Police Department, Edgar County Sheriff’s Department, Paris Fire Department, and Horizon Health Ambulance responded to the scene. Upon arrival, authorities determined that the Edgar County Coroner’s Office should be contacted, and Kathryn was pronounced deceased.
Coroner Barrett reported that the evidence available at this time is consistent with a suicidal death. The circumstances surrounding Kathryn’s passing remain under investigation by the Paris Police Department and the Edgar County Coroner’s Office.
