According to the Toledo Police Department, officers responded shortly after 12:30 a.m. on October 7 to a home in the 1100 block of Campbell Street, near Holbrook and North Hawley, following a report of a person who had been shot. Officers found Scott inside the residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Scott was transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite efforts to save his life, he later died from his injuries that morning.
