The Apex, North Carolina, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 35-year-old William Young, a sanitation worker whose life was tragically cut short in a workplace accident on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:20 a.m. to the 5400 block of Lower Creek Court following a report of a man who had been severely injured by a garbage truck.

When emergency crews arrived, they found Young suffering from critical injuries. Despite the response at the scene, he was pronounced deceased.
