With profound sadness, we remember Paul Meservey, 23, of Orrington, Maine, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating crash in Ellsworth early Thursday morning.
According to the Ellsworth Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 1:28 a.m. near Bucksport Road and Surry Road. Police said a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 was traveling eastbound on Bucksport Road when the driver, identified as 19-year-old Landon Rockwell of Dedham, lost control of the vehicle.
The pickup left the roadway, crossed Main Street, and struck two homes. Paul, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered injuries that proved fatal.
Rockwell was ejected from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital before being flown by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for further treatment.
Emergency crews from the Ellsworth Fire Department and Northern Light Ambulance Service responded to the scene, with assistance from Bangor police. The Hancock County District Attorney’s Office was also notified as authorities continued their investigation.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation as officials work to understand the events that led to the collision.
