JACKSON, TN — The Jackson community and loved ones are mourning the tragic passing of 45-year-old Jarvis Davis, 40, who lost his life late Wednesday night, October 7, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on the US 45 Bypass.
According to the Jackson Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:23 p.m. to reports of a vehicle striking a bicyclist near the Hollywood Drive off-ramp on the southbound side of the bypass.
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of a truck was attempting to exit the bypass onto Hollywood Drive when the vehicle struck Davis, who was riding his bicycle northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic.
Emergency medical responders transported Davis to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Police said the truck’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The crash remains under active investigation as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
